Appointments, Location & Fees

Regular Sessions

Counselling sessions with individual clients are usually weekly 50 minute appointments. In Relationship Counselling the length of a normal appointment is about 90 minutes. Regularity and frequency of appointments are important to how much we can achieve together – so deciding to start counselling is a commitment to yourself. Some clients prefer to do a short course of five or ten sessions while other clients prefer an ongoing relationship of several months to a year or longer.

Regular Fees and Special Fees for Lower Income Clients

I do not charge you for the first appointment – I feel this is when we can get to know each other and decide whether we are comfortable to continue working together. Fees for ongoing sessions are on a sliding scale to meet your income and situation. I want to assure you can continue your course of counselling as long as it is beneficial for you even if your financial circumstances are difficult.

I am committed to provide counselling to the whole community. This means I help you to find solutions that may enable you to participate in counselling. I work with WINZ funded clients at the rate funded through the government. I have the necessary applications for the Disability Allowance and am happy to fill them out together with you. This can make things a lot easier and less worrying.

Appointments

You do not need to be referred by a GP to make an appointment. If you feel that you could benefit from the opportunity to talk about your life, call me to arrange a meeting. This will enable you to explore how counselling with me could help before you decide to go further. I work strictly on an appointment basis and I will endeavour to see you within three days of making contact. In urgent cases I will do my best to see you immediately. In special cases I also can arrange home or hospital visits.
